Bellmore / Merrick PAL had its usual great showing at the Bellmore Striders July 4th mile race.
Registration is in person only. There are still spots available for the 6:15 pm session. If interested call 516-679-5990 & leave a message.
2K Challenge is a fun cross country race for the kids.
It was held at Gardiner’s County Park on Sunday, October 21. This race has hay bales in 2 spots on the course which adds to the fun factor.

The USATF XC Invitational was held at Gardiners County Park on Sunday, October 7 and the Bellmore PAL XC team was there doing their coaches & parents proud.Coach Lam and Coach Charlie with some of the team before the start of the meet – Madeleine, Ryan, Alex, Lucas, Mikhaila, Joylin, Analia, Nicholas, Diego, Evan, Jaylah, Lilliana, Izabella, Nathan
Mikhaila, Alex and John, in the 13/14 age group ran 4K.
Athletes 8 & under ran 2k, 9/10 year olds &11/12 year olds ran 3K.
It was a great day for our athletes!
Our 2nd Mile Grand Prix ended with the Farmingdale Mile on September 1.
The Grand Prix included the LI Marathon mile, Bellmore Striders July 4th mile, Massapequa Mile, Farmingdale Mile.

Results are based on each athlete running 3 of the 4 mile races.
9-12 year boys

The Region 1 Championships and JO Qualifier was held at Icahn Stadium from Thursday, July 12th thru Sunday, July 15th.
We had 14 athletes qualify for the Regional meet and 13 of them attended the meet.
Friday was the day for the pentathlon and Mikhaila and Anthony competed. Anthony placed 5th and Mikhaila was 8th.
Saturday started with the 200 hurdles and Camylin placed 4th with a time of 30.08 which qualified her for the National meet and gave her the USATF Long Island age group record! Way to go Camylin.
This was followed by the 100 meters – Jaylah made it into the finals and was 7th overall. Steven pulled a muscle in the 100m and did not compete the next day in the 200m. Avery & Izabella both had personal bests with times of 16.11 and 17.11 rerspectively.
Nicholas and Camylin competed in the 400m placing 19th and 13th. In the 1500m, John was 9th overall achieving a personal best of 5:33.
Sunday was cloudy and developed into rain, but the athletes shone on the track. The 4x100m relay was the 1st event for our athletes. The 9/10 yr girls Avery, Cecilia, Harper and Hannah placed 5th and secured a qualifying spot for Nationals. They also broke their own USATF Long Island age group record with a time of 1:08.4
In the 200m our athletes Avery & Harper both achieved personal bests.
Leanna also got a personal best in the 800m finishing 13th with a time of 2:45.0. John was back on Sunday and ran the 800m with another personal best of 2:38.8 as he finished 11th.
It was an awesome meet and a wonderful experience for all our athletes.
Our athletes will not be going to Nationals which is in Greensboro, North Carolina July 23rd thru July 29th.
The USATF Outdoor Track & Field Championships were held on Father’s Day at Great Neck Middle School.
Many of our athletes had personal bests on this beautiful day in June.
14 of our athletes qualified for the Regional meet being held at Icahn Stadium on Randalls Island in New York City. Our athletes make us proud every time they step on the track!

With her performance in the 400 meters, Camylin now holds the USATF Long Island record in her age group with a time of 60.38. She just missed the record for the 200 hurdles! Awesome job Camylin! Regionals here she comes!

The anchor leg for the girls 9/10 year old 4×100 relay on her way to helping her team break their 2017 record with a time of 1:09.03 making them the USATF Long Island record holder in their age group! Way to go girls!!
